Conference Name | Workshop on Atom-Photon Interactions with Rydberg Atoms, Superradiance, or EIT |
Content | Coherent manipulation of atoms by light and coherent manipulation of light by atoms are the recurring themes in modern atomic and optical physics. Highly-excited Rydberg atoms with strong dipole-dipole interaction and superradiance phenomena based on resonant dipole-dipole interaction share common feature of cooperative interactions and add rich research possibilities to coherent manipulation of atoms and light, as well as exotic quantum phases in many-body physics. Effect of electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) has also become a powerful resource to the coherent manipulation of atoms and light. The inclusion of the long-range dipolar interaction in EIT study can induce nonlinear and nonlocal photon-photon interactions at the single quanta level. All these topics are of great interest in modern atomic and optical physics. In this workshop, we invite two of the world leading experts, Prof. Tilman Pfau and Prof. Susanne Yelin, and several domestic researchers to discuss their recent results in this field. We hope the workshop can raise many interests toward future possible collaborations among the participants. |
