An On-shell Formulation of Chiral Perturbation Theory

  • Event Date: 2021-03-11
  • Particle/String/Cosmology
  • Speaker: Prof. Ian Low (Northwestern University)  /  Host: Prof. Kingman Cheung (NTHU)
Place: R521, 5F, 2nd General Building, Nat'l Tsing Hua Univ.

We will discuss an entirely on-shell formulation of the mesonic sector of Chiral Perturbation Theory (ChPT), without recourse to the Lagrangian, which is based on recent progresses in understanding the infrared structure of Nambu-Goldstone bosons. The construction provides an efficient method to enumerate the low-energy constants of ChPT, in which operators relations such as those arising from equations of motion, integration-by-parts, hermiticity, and symmetry structure, manifest themselves in simple ways.
