Abstract
Over the past decade, significant progress has been made in understanding quantum information scrambling, many-body chaos, and their connections to gravitational physics. Simple gravitational theories can be linked to highly chaotic many-body quantum dynamics at strong coupling. In particular, maximal chaos is governed by the so-called multi-stress tensors – these operators contain key information about quantum chaos and thermal quantum dynamics more generally. In two spacetime dimensions, these operators can be organized by a symmetry specific to two-dimensional quantum critical theories. However, multi-stress tensors also exist in higher dimensions, where they are again essential for understanding chaotic thermal quantum dynamics. Only recently have developments been made in analyzing multi-stress tensors in higher dimensions. In this talk, after a brief overview of quantum chaos, I will discuss recent progress in computing multi-stress tensor contributions in 3+1-dimensional chaotic conformal field theories.
